PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Vestry has the overall responsibility for Project 21, but the day to day management activities have been delegated to three main groups: Communications, Building and Finance.

The Executive Committee is made up of the three Chairs of these groups, with Dave Richards, as Chairman of the Committee, and Emma Vardy, the recently appointed Project Co-ordinator. The Executive liaises directly with Vestry.

The three group Chairs are very experienced in the fields that the groups cover:

  • Angela Stormont is Chair of the Communications Group, which has a wide remit. This group is responsible for planning communication with the congregation and external communications, for example with local agencies and historic bodies. The group is also responsible for fundraising, which will overlap with the Finance group remit.

  • Alan McFarlane is Chair of the Finance Group, which is involved in the different aspects of finance for Project 21, including advising on the management of funds, long term financial planning and spending. The group will give financial advice both to individuals and corporately, to the congregation.

  • The Chair of the Building Group is Douglas McCormick, who is liaising with the architect and contractors. This group will present and interpret information and ideas for the Vestry to consider and will work closely with Emma in her role as project co-ordinator.

As well as these groups, which haven't yet been fully appointed, there will be 'briefing' teams who provide information to each of the Project 21 groups as appropriate. There will be around 12 of these teams considering lots of different aspect of the project, such as issues to do with relocation, environmental impacts, ministry, facilities and technical aspects.
